Miriam El-Madany, MD

Psychedelic Assisted Psychotherapist, PGY-2 Psychiatry Resident, Attending Radiologist

Dr. Miriam El-Madany is an attending breast radiologist and PGY-2 psychiatry resident at Emory. She is trained with the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) in MDMA assisted psychotherapy, Polaris Insight Center in ketamine assisted psychotherapy and also in somatic cannabis assisted psychotherapy. After garnering some experience in psychedelic assisted therapies, she decided to return to psychiatry training in order to be able to provide comprehensive mental healthcare at the highest level. She has a particular interest in the intersection between psychoanalysis and body based therapies with psychedelics and has a firm belief that they are the future of psychiatric care for many patients. She is also a strong advocate for the health of the healer, and will be dedicating a portion of her practice to psychedelic therapy for doctors and healthcare providers suffering from burnout, as well as to maintain their own mental health in the difficult environment of medicine and medical training. As part of this mission, she has a consultation group for over 250 psychedelic providers identifying as female or non-binary called "women in psychedelics" and runs integration groups for psychedelic providers and therapists where they can process both their personal and professional experiences.
