Andreea Sutu, PhD

Andreea Sutu, Ph.D. is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Emory Center for Psychedelics and Spirituality specializing in intensive longitudinal, naturalistic, and psychometric methods. She earned her Ph.D. in Social & Personality Psychology from the University of Houston, where she focused on measuring emotional and interpersonal processes as they unfold in daily life.
Dr. Sutu is involved in numerous projects at ECPS, including the OPTIMIZE trial, a clinical study of psilocybin-assisted therapy for major depressive disorder. Across studies, her work integrates ecological momentary assessment (EMA), naturalistic audio sampling using the Electronically Activated Recorder (EAR), daily voice diaries, and advanced statistical modeling to understand how emotions, thoughts, and social experiences dynamically shift over time.
More broadly, her research bridges personality psychology, clinical science, and the study of lived experience. She studies emotional dynamics, self-related cognition, and social connection, and is interested in better ways to understand people’s lived experiences.
Outside of research, she enjoys practicing yoga and connecting with others through music.
